            <bibo:abstract>&lt;p dir="ltr"&gt;Open and run Run_Demo_Training.m in Matlab to train an ANN model for MNIST data set to zero error rate. For fast demo use small batch sizes around 1000. To train a model with the full size of 60,000 images, use model architecture 784-n-10 with n&gt;=100 to save time. Also, in the mfile section titled `Stochastic Gradient Descent to prime the search', uncomment the following lines&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p dir="ltr"&gt;% %%%%%%% for full 60000&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p dir="ltr"&gt;% nmb_of_searching_per_session=80;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p dir="ltr"&gt;% nmb_of_sessions=4000;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p dir="ltr"&gt;% random_batch_size=1:1000;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p dir="ltr"&gt;before running the script.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p dir="ltr"&gt;Fully trained models are contained in the data file, Project_1_Model_Parameters.mat. To verify just open and run Run_Demo_Validation.m.             <bibo:abstract>&lt;p dir="ltr"&gt;This recital of French Baroque Chamber Music for 4 flutes and bassoon celebrated the music of Joseph Bodin de Boismortier (1689-1755) on the 270th anniversary of his death. Boismortier published over one hundred collections of instrumental and vocal works, many of which were groundbreaking for their time, as they required no patronage to reach the public. His music, often praised for its elegance and accessibility, remains a cornerstone of Baroque performance today.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p dir="ltr"&gt;Professor Marion Treupel-Franck was the special guest artist for this program.&lt;br&gt;Marion Treupel-Franck specialized in traverso after studying flute in Salzburg, Innsbruck, and Vienna, training with Barthold Kuijken at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. She performs internationally with renowned Baroque ensembles and appears as a soloist at prestigious early music festivals. Her recordings are featured on labels such as Sony Music, Pan Classics, Ramée, and Ars Produktion. A dedicated educator, she teaches at the music universities in Regensburg and Munich, where she was appointed Honorary Professor in 2024. She regularly gives international masterclasses, and she completed a certification in music physiology at the Berlin Career College in 2020. &lt;br&gt;www.flautotraverso.de&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p dir="ltr"&gt;Other performers on traverso were Gregory Dikmans, Latham Horn and Harrison Whelan.             <bibo:abstract>&lt;p&gt;Contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI), the third most common cause of hospital-acquired kidney injury, is associated with poor clinical outcomes, highlighting the need for accurate prediction. In this study, we used an electronic hospital monitoring system to retrospectively analyze 3,437 patients who underwent elective angiography at a large tertiary regional referral center in eastern China between 2019 and 2024, establishing a comprehensive epidemiological database. The system detected a CI-AKI incidence of 10.53% (362 cases) and revealed a striking under-diagnosis rate of 92.27% in discharge documentation. The key risk factors identified were leukocyte count, serum albumin level, and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). These predictors were used to develop and compare nine machine learning models against the conventional Mehran score. Although logistic regression (LR) showed the best overall performance, with an AUC of 0.806 and a Brier score of 0.076, the linear support vector machine (LSVM) also exhibited top-tier discriminative capability, achieving a comparable AUC of 0.807. Its slightly higher Brier score (0.124) suggests potential for improvement in calibration. Both machine learning models significantly outperformed the conventional Mehran score. This study demonstrates that electronic monitoring systems can help reduce missed diagnoses and that machine learning offers practical tools for early screening of high-risk patients and improved prognostic outcomes.&lt;/p&gt;</bibo:abstract>

            <bibo:abstract>&lt;p&gt;Gitelman syndrome (GS) is a rare hereditary kidney disorder characterized by electrolyte abnormalities. However, its systemic manifestations, such as growth retardation, suggest broader metabolic disturbances. To investigate this issue, we explored the link between GS and lipid metabolism, hypothesizing that the genetic mutation affects pathways beyond renal function. Our study focused on five pediatric GS patients carrying homozygous &lt;i&gt;SLC12A3&lt;/i&gt; c.1262G &gt; T mutation and seven healthy, age-matched controls from the Yi ethnic group. Consistent with systemic involvement, these children exhibited impaired growth and significantly lower serum total cholesterol compared to healthy controls. To determine whether this mutation directly causes cholesterol metabolism abnormalities, we conducted &lt;i&gt;in vitro&lt;/i&gt;. 293 T cell with the c.1262G &gt; T point mutation showed reduced intracellular cholesterol storage and increased cholesterol efflux, confirming a direct role of the mutation in disrupting cholesterol metabolism. Returning to our patient samples, we performed untargeted serum metabolomics to obtain a comprehensive view of metabolic changes. This analysis revealed alterations in numerous lipid-related metabolites. Crucially, glycerophospholipid metabolism was identified as the most significantly perturbed pathway in GS patients. These findings provide the first clear evidence linking this renal tubulopathy to systemic dyslipidemia, fundamentally expanding our understanding of its pathophysiology.&lt;/p&gt;</bibo:abstract>

            <bibo:abstract>&lt;p dir="ltr"&gt;This program for eight bassoons and contraforte was performed for the elderly residents and guests of Drummond Place Retirement Community in Carlton, Melbourne. The program included arrangements of works by Elizabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, Giaccomo Puccini, Edward Grieg, Astor Piazzolla and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Half the program contained first Australian performances of these excellent arrangements.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The students in the 2025 MCM Bassoon Ensemble hail from Brisbane, Perth, Canberra, Bendigo and Melbourne. The ensemble unites all study levels from first year through to Masters. Some students major in another degree such as engineering or science, while simultaneously pursuing a diploma in music. The ensemble was originally formed during the inaugural annual Melbourne Bassoon Summer Course in 2017, with regular performances at the annually occurring national conference of the Australasian Double Reed Society.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Student bassoonists who performed at Drummond Place were Arky Vogt, Each Zhang, Jake Newman, Joshua Elrom, Laura Radajewski, Sam Battock, Sara Mau and Thomas de Simone.&lt;/p&gt;</bibo:abstract>
