<dc:description>Introduction
Inclusive online education requires more than technical accessibility, yet digital accessibility, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and pedagogical quality are often evaluated separately. This study developed an integrated framework for assessing inclusive quality in asynchronous online higher education.
Methods
Twenty preliminary indicators were derived from the literature and relevant standards and assessed by three experts for relevance, clarity, representativeness, and applicability. Their ratings and comments, together with an experiential review by a screen-reader user, informed an expanded framework of 26 indicators. The framework was applied to four Spanish-language asynchronous online courses. During manuscript revision, four additional experts assessed the 26-indicator framework.
Results
Course evaluations showed generally high scores for the indicators that could be assessed. Common strengths included course organization, clarity of content and instructions, and pedagogical alignment. Barriers were identified in PDF accessibility, missing text alternatives and audiovisual transcripts, and limited flexibility in participation and assessment.
Discussion
The findings support an integrated approach in which digital accessibility, UDL, and pedagogical quality are evaluated together. Further applications involving multiple evaluators and more diverse institutional contexts are needed to examine the framework's reliability and transferability.
</dc:description>
