<dc:description><p dir="ltr">Disability-inclusive communication is a core competence for health professionals to promote equitable, person-centred healthcare for people with disabilities (PWD). However, little is known about how this competence is conceptualized, taught, and assessed across health professions education (HPE). This scoping review aimed to describe how disability-inclusive communication has been addressed in HPE, addressing gaps in previous reviews that focused on healthcare communication more broadly or on specific professions or disability groups. A systematic literature search was conducted across four databases (PubMed, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, and Wiley Online) following the six-step framework of Arksey and O’Malley. Of 3,299 records identified, 24 primary studies met the eligibility criteria. Most studies originated from Western countries. No consistent operational definition of disability-inclusive communication was identified, with only five studies explicitly defining the construct. Various pedagogical approaches were reported, with role-play being the most frequently used. Assessment predominantly relied on self-reported perceptions using instruments that were not specifically designed to measure disability-inclusive communication. The involvement of PWDs in teaching were prominentlyreported, alongside the contributions from faculty members, senior students, educational institutions, and disability-related professionals. Overall, disability-inclusive communication teaching is increasingly addressed in HPE, but substantial gaps remain in its conceptualization and assessment. Further research across diverse sociocultural and educational contexts is needed, particularly to develop and validate standardized instruments for assessing disability-inclusive communication competence. </p></dc:description>
