<dc:description>
Connected Harms is a national feasibility study examining police readiness to respond to technology-facilitated violence against women and girls (TF-VAWG) across police forces in England and Wales. TF-VAWG includes online harassment, image-based abuse, cyberstalking, technology-facilitated coercive control, and other forms of digitally enabled abuse.

The case study component comprises in-depth organisational case studies within two police forces in England and Wales. It uses three complementary methods: semi-structured interviews with police officers and police staff; documentary review of relevant organisational policies, guidance, training materials and recording practices; and analysis of appropriately anonymised operational data to map selected TF-VAWG case pathways. Interview participants include personnel with relevant responsibilities or expertise in areas such as TF-VAWG, public protection, safeguarding, investigation, digital policing and related functions.

Interview data will be analysed using qualitative thematic analysis. Documentary materials will be analysed systematically to examine organisational processes and arrangements, while operational data will be analysed descriptively and through case pathway mapping to examine reporting, investigation, safeguarding, referral, and outcomes. Findings from the three sources will be considered together to identify organisational practices, capabilities, challenges, and opportunities for earlier and more effective responses to TF-VAWG.

Data will be managed in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, The Open University's Research Data Management Policy, and the relevant information governance and data-sharing requirements of participating police forces. Interview data will be pseudonymised for analysis, and operational data will be appropriately anonymised before transfer to the research team. Due to confidentiality, data protection, and police information governance considerations, full interview datasets, operational datasets, and force-specific documents may not be available via open access through ORDO and may instead be held on ORDO under embargo and subject to request.

Findings from the case studies will contribute to the development of a Connected Harms Readiness Framework and a wider evidence base on police readiness to respond to TF-VAWG.
</dc:description>
