Dataset for project "Student belonging in the digital age: Exploring practice and preferences for social media tools" Kate Ritchie (20297037) Carol Edwards (19684801) Liz Hardie (19745722) community sense of belonging student experience social media peer mentoring <p dir="ltr">The aims of this project are to draw on OU staff and student voices to:</p><p dir="ltr">· Identify the different forms of communication via social media/technologies that can be used to promote student community and belonging, including potential use as a platform for virtual peer-mentoring.</p><p dir="ltr">· Gauge how social media is used and explore preferences for particular social media tools in the context of communication and community building, considering whether there is variance between different student demographics.</p><p dir="ltr">· Consider the advantages and challenges of each method when used as a means of communicating with students to promote student community and belonging, including mentoring support.</p><p dir="ltr">· Develop strategies to overcome the challenges to peer and student interaction and the development of communities within a virtual environment.</p><p dir="ltr">The research questions that this project aims to address are:</p><p dir="ltr">1. What are the potential methods of social media/technology that can be most effectively used to communicate with students, facilitate student community and belonging, including the development of the peer-mentoring process.</p><p dir="ltr">2.
