The dataset includes responses from 709 household surveys from the departments of Totonicapán and Chiquimula, Guatemala. Our research team obtained consent from the leaders of each community included in the household survey prior to contacting individual households. Prior to conducting household surveys, all 16 enumerators participated in an intensive 3–day training, during which we reviewed ethical research practices. The survey protocol adhered to ethical standards for human subjects research, including informed consent, and was approved by the University of Arizona Institutional Review Board. All survey participants were orally read the informed consent form, which included information about the study, the voluntary nature of their participation, and their right to withdraw, stop the survey, or end their participation at any time.

For inquiries regarding the contents of this dataset, please contact the Corresponding Author listed in the README.txt file. Administrative inquiries (e.g., removal requests, trouble downloading, etc.) can be directed to data-management@arizona.edu</dc:description>
