<dc:description>Breast cancer susceptibility gene 1 (BRCA1) plays an essential role in repairing DNA damages. Inherited BRCA1 mutation is linked to higher risks of breast and ovarian cancer, meaning the mutation carriers are likely to require cancer treatments. This thesis uses a special mouse model carrying an oocyte(egg)-specific BRCA1 mutation to exam the impact of cancer treatment on female’s ovarian health. The findings suggest that lacking BRCA1 in oocytes elevates sensitive to cancer treatment-induced ovary toxicity, leading to reduced ovarian reserve and oocyte number. This highlights fertility concern in female BRCA1 mutation carriers and support future research on developing fertility preservation strategies.<p></p></dc:description>
