<dc:description><p dir="ltr">This dataset accompanies a scoping review on public trust and distrust in artificial intelligence. Guided by the PRSIMA-ScR, this scoping review asked how public trust in AI is constructed and mobilized in contemporary scholarship. Given the necessarily interdisciplinary nature of public trust in AI, a selection of four databases were chosen with varying degrees of disciplinary fidelity: Web of Science, Scopus, IEEE, and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).The search string captured English-language sources published January 1st, 2020 and December 31st, 2025 which featured both public trust and artificial intelligence in the title, abstract, or keywords. Data were analyzed using hybrid inductive/deductive thematic analysis. This dataset contains the source metadata for each included article as well as the data generated from deductive coding.</p></dc:description>
