<dc:description>This thesis investigates what I call the "poetic interruption" across two artistic mediums: film and poetry. Drawing from Gilles Deleuze's concept of the time-image in his Cinema books, I examine five films and four works of narrative poetry which employ poetic interruption. Then, in the creative component, I have written a work of poetry which also functions as a screenplay (or vice-versa) in order to reinforce the ambiguities and overlaps that exist between film and poetry, and how the technique of the poetic interruption may occur across any narrative form.</dc:description>
