<dc:description>The use of nanotechnology is part of modern everyday life, ranging from the biomedical to the agriculture sectors. Nanoparticles have multifarious applications and can be synthesized by various physico-chemical and biological methods. Bioprocessing of nanoparticle production through biological methods offers great advantages over other methods. Microbial production of nanoparticles is the most sought-after technology employed in the current era. This chapter discusses the role of microorganism-mediated biogenic synthesis of nanoparticles. Application of computational techniques to understand the role of capping agents binding to microbial nanoparticles is discussed. The feasibility of scaling -up study with respect to fungal gold nanoparticles is particularly discussed to envision the scope in an industry setting. Various applications of microbial nanoparticles, including antimicrobial, specific delivery (bioactives, drugs), and sensing are also critically discussed.</dc:description>
