However, individuals with migraines may experience light-induced headaches. We previously showed that the preferred lighting environment differed between individuals with and those without migraines. However, because some individuals with migraines experience photophobia, whereas others do not, it is important to consider photophobia when evaluating lighting preferences. To identify the preferred illuminance for individuals with migraine with and without photophobia in a room for relaxation, we conducted an experiment in which the participants adjusted the illuminance under two correlated color temperature (CCT) conditions. As a result, individuals with migraines and photophobia preferred lower illuminance than those with migraines without photophobia under both CCT conditions. A second experiment was conducted under constant lighting conditions with task–ambient lighting (TAL).
