<dc:description><p dir="ltr">This poster presents findings from a cross-sectional study comparing cardiometabolic risk factors and carotid intima-media thickness in 39 young adults with type 1 diabetes and 78 non-diabetic controls in New Zealand. Participants with type 1 diabetes had greater glycaemic exposure, while anthropometric measures, blood pressure, lipid profiles and physical activity were comparable between groups. No between-group differences were identified in mean or maximum carotid intima-media thickness, indicating that structural carotid vascular changes were not detectable during early adulthood in this cohort. Despite this favourable cardiometabolic and vascular profile, suboptimal glycaemic control remains an important pathway through which cardiovascular risk may accumulate over time. The findings support sustained glycaemic management and cardiovascular risk surveillance from early adulthood.</p></dc:description>
