<dc:description>
This dataset contains anonymized quantitative data supporting the study entitled “Cryptography-Based Mathematics Instruction to Enhance Students’ Digital Ethics and Digital Security Literacy: A Mixed-Methods Study.”

The dataset contains item-level pretest and post-test responses for Digital Ethics and Digital Security Literacy, together with cognitive-test scores from tenth-grade students participating in the study. The final analytic sample consists of 64 students: 32 students in the experimental group and 32 students in the control group.

The Digital Ethics instrument contained 20 items. Item 11 was excluded from final construct scoring, resulting in 19 scored items. The Digital Security Literacy instrument contained 21 items. Items 1 and 12 were excluded from final construct scoring, resulting in 19 scored items.

The cognitive test assessed modular arithmetic, matrix representation, and Caesar/Vigenère cipher encryption and decryption. The overall cognitive score was recorded on a 0–100 scale, with three supporting indicators scored on a 0–4 rubric.

Participant identifiers in the dataset are represented using anonymized participant codes rather than participant names.

Qualitative interview transcripts, recordings, and related interview materials are not included in this dataset and are not publicly shared because they contain privacy-sensitive information, potentially identifiable information, and participants’ personal opinions or experiences. These qualitative materials are therefore treated as restricted research data.

A README and data codebook are included with the dataset to document the study design, participant coding, variable structure, scoring rules, analytical sample, and data-privacy considerations.
</dc:description>
