<dc:description>Gasification fine slag (GFS), an industrial byproduct rich in carbon and silicon species, remains underutilized. This thesis develops sustainable strategies to upcycle GFS-derived carbon (GSC) into electrocatalysts for water splitting. GSC was first used as a low-cost support for Co/Mo selenide bifunctional catalysts for water splitting reactions. A rapid direct current arc-discharge method was then established to synthesize Pt single-atom catalysts. Finally, GSC served as a carbon–silicon precursor to construct Si-decorated Pt single-atom catalysts, which delivered outstanding hydrogen production activity and stable water electrolysis operation over 1600 h, demonstrating a viable route for waste valorization and low-Pt catalyst design.</dc:description>
