<dc:description><p dir="ltr">Technological advancement has brought changes in education, especially as it provides various approaches to teach and learn languages. The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of Virtual Reality (VR) based teaching methods on Chinese language learning. A quasi-experimental research design was employed. A total of 351 participants learning Chinese as a second or foreign language were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The selected participants were divided into two groups (an experimental group of N=176 and a control group of N=175). The questionnaire method was used to collect data during pre- and post-tests from the students and analyzed using SPSS. The experimental group achieved significantly higher scores across all variables (p < .001). The VR environment improved language skills and cultural knowledge, along with motivation to learn (mean difference= 0.074 to 0.629). Furthermore, findings confirmed that the VR-based intervention considerably contributed to the students ' Chinese language competency and cross-cultural awareness. (ηp² = 0.229–0.323). This examination uniquely assesses how incorporating VR-based technology into educational processes can enhance learning outcomes. Virtual reality-based learning is an effective tool that has the ability to help students learn better and increase their motivation for studying. Therefore, the application of VR technology and context-based activities during the language learning process will lead to improved vocabulary and pronunciation.</p></dc:description>
