<dc:description>
Hemistasia phaeocysticola is a single-celled organism that preys on diatoms and dinoflagellates. It belongs to the diplonemid group, a clade related to the kinetoplastids (Trypanosoma and other related organisms). Being closely related, H. phaeocysticola also has a tentative, large, reticulated mitochondria, but with several kDNA clumps acting as kinetoplasts (instead of a single large kinetoplast, which is the "standard"). Another distinctive feature is a large digestive vacuole located at the rear of the cell.

Fun files, huh? They're free to use, CC BY-SA 4.0, attribution is required (DOTkamina 2026) and they're not for commercial purposes (anyway, you could ask me; my inbox is empty and full of spam from Nigerian princes). You can find more secrets, information about these resources, and the bibliography I used to create them (because I had to get the information from somewhere, right?) on the blog. Hey, if you use them in any slides, articles, books, or other projects, let me know! I'd love to read it. Of course, I'm also open to suggestions, criticisms, or possible corrections.

( •_•)>⌐■-■

Don't forget to check out my other illustrations of The Protista Project and others on my Wikimedia page.
</dc:description>
