<dc:description><p dir="ltr">This article is devoted to the analysis of the creative activity of the artist A. Isupov in the Turkestan region, within the context of which the synthesis of the traditions of painting and decorative-applied art in his works in the portrait genre is examined. Particular attention is given to a series of retrospective portraits created in Samarkand in 1920–1921, in which the artistic features of depicted national costumes and examples of traditional crafts, including ceramics, textiles, and jewelry, are analyzed. The author substantiates that in A. Isupov's portraits, decorative-applied art functions as an important artistic factor determining their compositional and plastic essence.</p></dc:description>
