<dc:description>
The present study describes five new species of land planarians, inhabiting urban and peri-urban areas from Argentina and Brazil. Paraparaba pampeana sp. nov., Paraparaba platense sp. nov., Pasipha silvanae sp. nov., and Pasipha rara sp. nov. were found in central eastern Argentina (provinces of Buenos Aires and La Pampa), and Paraparaba santiaguense sp. nov. was found in southern Brazil (state of Rio Grande do Sul). The specimens were found in backyards, nursery gardens, parks, and remnants of the Atlantic Forest in a farm, and were studied by analysing their external appearance, internal anatomy, and molecular data by using the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (Cox-1). The three new species of the genus Paraparaba and the two new species of the genus Pasipha resemble each other in their external appearance and internal anatomy. They differ only in details of the external appearance (mainly regarding the pigmentation patterns) and minor differences in their internal anatomy, mostly concerning the copulatory apparatus, so they can be considered pseudocryptic species. Genetic distances and species delimitation approaches (ASAP and mPTP) reinforce their specific identity. Although anthropized habitats are sometimes overlooked in biodiversity surveys, they can offer optimal conditions for the establishment of species.
</dc:description>
