<dc:description><p dir="ltr">“Same Medicines, Different Heartbeats” translates the findings of our systematic review and meta-analysis into a visual story about psychostimulant use and cardiovascular health in older adults. The older adult represents an ageing population in whom psychostimulant use is increasingly relevant, while the enlarged heart and electrocardiogram symbolize cardiovascular safety concerns. The contrasting red and blue tones reflect the balance between potential cardiovascular risks and the benefits for which these medicines are prescribed. The four icons on the right directly represent our findings: psychostimulant use was associated with increased risks of stroke/TIA and cardiac arrhythmias, while no statistically significant association was observed for myocardial infarction or overall cardiovascular disease. The figures walking within the heart represent healthy and independent ageing, highlighting the importance of balancing therapeutic benefits with careful cardiovascular risk assessment and monitoring.</p></dc:description>
