DOI Suffix Analysis Dataset: Large-Scale Data on Suffix Length, Character Composition, and Bibliographic Metadata across Crossref, DataCite, and JaLC Jiro Kikkawa (777959) Informetrics Digital Object Identifier (DOI) DOI Suffix Persistent Identifiers (PIDs) Scholarly Infrastructure Open Research Information (ORI) Scientometrics <p dir="ltr"><b>This repository provides the data and analysis code associated with the manuscript "Design Practices of Persistent Identifiers in Open Research Information: An Empirical Analysis of DOI Suffixes across Crossref, DataCite, and JaLC," currently under review for the </b><b><i>Scientometrics</i></b><b> special issue on "Open Research Information."</b></p><p dir="ltr">The underlying study is based on 248,049,018 unique DOI records from three major DOI registration agencies: Crossref, DataCite, and the Japan Link Center (JaLC). It examines DOI suffix characteristics from multiple perspectives, including suffix-length distributions and temporal trends, individual character usage and character-composition patterns, variation across DOI-associated platforms using fully qualified domain names (FQDNs), and the occurrence of strings corresponding to bibliographic metadata elements such as ISSNs, ISBNs, and publication years.</p><p dir="ltr">This repository contains the analysis scripts, derived datasets used to construct the tables and figures presented in the manuscript, and a Jupyter Notebook documenting the analytical workflow.
