<dc:description><p dir="ltr">Idiopathic nephrotic syndrome (INS) is the most common glomerular disease in children, and steroid response is its strongest prognostic indicator, yet it can only be established retrospectively. Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) counteracts glucocorticoid action, while BAFF and APRIL drive the humoral autoimmunity implicated in INS.We measured urinary MIF and CCL2 by ELISA and quantified BAFF, APRIL, CXCR5 and BCL6 mRNA and miR-3692, miR-451 and miR-654 by qPCR in urine from children with steroid-sensitive (SSNS), steroid-resistant (SRNS) and steroid-dependent (SDNS) nephrotic syndrome and healthy controls, secondarily comparing steroid monotherapy with steroids plus tacrolimus/rituximab.</p></dc:description>
