<dc:description>Cotton is a significant cash crop in Bangladesh, and assessing soil quality is essential for sustainable production. This study evaluated soil fertility and cotton plant nutrient status in Chaugachha (Jashore District) and Kot Chandpur (Jhenaidah District) Upazilas using integrated spatial analysis and soil quality indexing. The Soil Quality Index (SQI), Relative Soil Quality Index (RSQI), Nutrient Index (NI), and Compositional Nutrient Diagnosis (CND) were calculated. Soils were mostly silty clay loam with slightly acidic to alkaline conditions. Soil quality in Chaugachha was classified as good (44.4%), moderate (33.3%), and poor (22.2%), whereas Kot Chandpur had good (11.1%) and moderate (88.9%) soil quality. Macronutrients (N, P, K, S) were deficient, while micronutrients (Zn, Fe, Mn, Pb, Cu, Cd) were in excess, as determined by CND. The study is based on 18 composite samples, so spatial maps should be considered indicative rather than predictive. Immediate intervention by concerned authorities is recommended to promote proper field management and improved farming practices for higher cotton yields in southwestern Bangladesh.<p></p></dc:description>
