EHF Champions League (men), 2021/22–2025/26: match-level dataset and extraction pipeline Csilla Filó (24378629) Sport and exercise psychology handball EHF Champions League match analysis performance indicators play-by-play data sports data <p dir="ltr">This dataset covers every match contested between the twelve clubs that reached the knockout stage in each of the five seasons played under one EHF Champions League format (2021/22 to 2025/26): 400 matches, 800 team-match observations, 60 club-seasons and 21 clubs. The 2020/21 season, the first under this format, is excluded because competition conditions were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.</p><p><br></p><p dir="ltr">All values derive from the official Online Match Statistics reports published by the European Handball Federation. The reports were parsed with the extraction pipeline included here, which produces four linked tables: match metadata, team-match indicators (21 overview variables for the full match and for each half, plus extra time and shootout columns), goalkeeper records, and 56,896 time-stamped play-by-play events. A fifth table logs every automated data-quality check.</p><p><br></p><p dir="ltr">Thirty reports recorded goals only. For these, team-level saves, total shots, turnovers and technical faults were coded from match footage by three handball coaches and verified by a fourth; every recovered value is listed with its source. Two format-specific corrections are applied throughout: throws from a 7-m shootout deciding a two-legged tie are removed from scores and shooting totals (four matches), and extra time is separated from the two halves (three matches).
