<dc:description>
A daily index of the bookmaker margin, the price a bettor pays to place a bet. One row per day, competition, market class and market shape, measured across the bookmakers quoting that market.

The file has 5,395 rows covering 88 days from 1 July 2026 to 26 September 2026, 38 competitions plus an all-competitions roll-up, and five market classes: head to head, spreads, totals, player props and other. Two-way and three-way markets are kept apart because their margins are not comparable. Individual bookmakers are not identified and no prices or odds are included; every row is an aggregate statistic. A plain-English codebook is included with three ideas for classroom use.

Living version, updated daily: Bet Better margin index.
