<dc:description>Introduction
Bottomhole flowing pressure (BHP) is a fundamental parameter for production-performance analysis, productivity evaluation, and rational production allocation in water-producing gas wells. However, the original Beggs–Brill model produces substantial liquid-holdup and BHP-prediction errors under the high-salinity, directional-well, and wide gas–water ratio (GWR) conditions of Block A.
Methods
Seven representative two-phase-flow pressure-drop models were evaluated to select a baseline model. Actual liquid holdup was back-calculated using field measurements from 25 calibration wells. Flow-regime-specific horizontal-pipe liquid-holdup correlations were developed for segregated, intermittent, and dispersed flow. The inclination correction was further optimized by introducing a GWR–well-inclination coupling term. The resulting model was validated using 10 independent wells.
Results
The coefficient of determination for liquid-holdup fitting exceeded 0.88 for all flow regimes. The mean absolute percentage error of BHP prediction decreased from 15.20% to 7.87%, corresponding to a 48.22% error reduction. Eighty percent of the validation wells had errors within the engineering limit of 10%. Prediction accuracy was particularly high under medium- to high-GWR conditions.
Discussion
The optimized model provides accurate BHP calculations within the validated operating range of Block A and offers a useful reference for model optimization in analogous water-producing gas reservoirs.
</dc:description>
