Bird occurrence and survey-unit diversity data for urban–rural green space and wetland sites in Suqian, Jiangsu Province, China Yu Shen (22501655) Community ecology (excl. invasive species ecology) Bird diversity <p dir="ltr">Bird occurrence and diversity data from a comparison of urban–rural green space and wetland in Suqian prefecture, northern Jiangsu Province, eastern China. Birds were surveyed at 22 survey units across 11 sites — 10 park units in five urban–rural districts (Shuyang, Sihong, Siyang, Sucheng, Suyu) and 12 transect units in six wetlands (WL1–WL6), giving 44 unit-by-round records. Sixty-two species in 11 orders were recorded: 40 in green space, 54 in wetland, 32 shared. Three files are included. (1) A species-by-site presence–absence matrix of 62 species across 11 sites, with Chinese and scientific names, order and family. (2) The same data in tidy long format, one row per species × site. (3) Survey-unit diversity records: species richness, abundance, Shannon diversity and Pielou evenness for each of the 22 units in each of the two rounds. A README gives the full data dictionary. Three points for reuse. A zero means the species was not recorded, not that it is absent; detection probability was not modelled and probably differs between open wetland and densely vegetated green space. The two survey rounds are repeated visits to the same units, so the 44 records are not independent samples.
