<dc:description>
MyWay Diabetes, developed by MyWay Digital Health, is an online platform that has been available in Scotland (as ‘My Diabetes My Way’) to people with diabetes and their carers since 2008. Since its development in Scotland, MyWay Diabetes has been rolled out in Somerset (as ‘MyWay Diabetes’), Greater Manchester (as ‘Diabetes MyWay’), and North West London (as ‘KnowDiabetes’) in England.

This study presents a qualitative analysis nested within a broader mixed-methods evaluation aiming to test the effectiveness of MyWay Diabetes. The current study set out to assess acceptability and implementation of MyWay Diabetes across diverse patient groups and clinicians in Greater Manchester, Somerset and North West London, UK. We conducted n=10 interviews with clinicians and four focus groups with n=27 patients using the MyWay Diabetes platform.

This dataset comprises the template analysis which support the themes described in the paper 'Acceptability and implementation of a digital diabetes self-management platform ('MyWay Diabetes') in England: a qualitative study.' A novel feature of template analysis is the iterative development of a coding template. Included here is each version of the coding template, and the final version of the template (version 4).

The Theoretical Framework of Acceptability (TFA) informed analysis across both the MyWay Diabetes patient user focus groups and clinician interviews, while Normalisation Process Theory (NPT) guided additional analysis of clinician interviews to examine implementation processes.

Codes from the transcripts were first organised into two preliminary thematic templates (one template for the interviews with clinicians and another template for the focus groups with MyWay Diabetes users), initially structured around the TFA and NPT constructs (template 1). Both templates were then merged into a single template suitable for the whole dataset (template 2). During this process, the higher‑order TFA constructs (e.g., affective attitude, burden) were removed from the template structure, as these constructs appeared repeatedly across different parts of the dataset, and we conducted deductive mapping to TFA and NPT constructs separately using summary tables. The combined template was then applied to a subset of the data and iteratively refined (template 3). During this stage, some codes were collapsed, reordered, or redefined to improve clarity and fit. Following these iterations, the combined template was found to adequately represent both stakeholder groups and applied to the full dataset (template 4).
</dc:description>
