For each sign, we provide a ‘raw’ 3D animation, obtained using motion capture equipment, as well as an animation obtained by retargeting the raw animation onto a specific avatar called GlassesGuy. We also provide extracted keypoints.</p><p>We refer to the NGT-LEX-UvA-2025-animations_codebook dataset, which is part of this collection, for more details on the structure of the collection, file naming conventions, and a file mapping table.</p><h3>About the creation of the data collection</h3><p>All 3D animations have been recorded using motion capture equipment by a team of researchers at SignLab at the University of Amsterdam, in collaboration with the Visualisation Lab, also at the University of Amsterdam. All recordings took place in 2023-2025. This Gloss ID corresponds with an entry in the NGT lexicon on Global Signbank, where each gloss is associated with semantic and phonological information (<a href="https://signbank.cls.ru.nl/datasets/NGT/">https://signbank.cls.ru.nl/datasets/NGT/</a>), and it also corresponds with a video recording of the same sign in the NGT-LEX-UvA-2025-videos dataset (<a href="https://doi.org/10.21942/uva.c.8723623">https://doi.org/10.21942/uva.c.8723623</a>).</p><h3>About this dataset</h3><p>NGT-LEX-UvA-2025 - 3D animations of NGT signs: motion-capture / Unreal takes exported as FBX and glTF (GLB), both as captured ('source') and retargeted to the GlassesGuy avatar, plus extracted keypoints (.npz/.json). Animations are named after the GLOSS, not after a video file, and were recorded in separate sessions: they show the same sign as the video recordings but are not captures of a particular video take. animation_mapping.csv joins to file_mapping.csv (NGT-LEX-UvA-2025-video_codebook) on the 'gloss' column.
