<dc:description>
This dataset contains the anonymized individual-level data underlying the findings of a two-arm, parallel, cluster-randomized controlled trial evaluating the effectiveness of Home-Based Life-Saving Skills (HBLSS) education delivered through women’s groups on maternal health service utilization, birth preparedness and complication readiness (BPCR), and knowledge of obstetric danger signs among pregnant women in Kersa District, Jimma Zone, Southwest Ethiopia.

The study was conducted from 15 October 2020 to 30 August 2021. Twenty kebeles were included in the trial and randomly allocated to intervention (10 kebeles) and control (10 kebeles) groups. Pregnant women between 12 and 24 weeks of gestation were enrolled and followed from baseline to endline. The intervention consisted of HBLSS education delivered through women’s groups during home visits, covering maternal health service utilization, BPCR, recognition of obstetric danger signs, and timely care-seeking.
</dc:description>
