<dc:description><p dir="ltr">Design inventions are part of every person’s life and are found everywhere mostly done by' official' designers or inventors. However, part of these innovations are also created by ordinary people with no formal education and around local and cultural traditions. This research aims to highlight the importance of these creations, called Vernacular Designs, working on two different concepts, the Brazilian Gambiarra and the New Zealand No. 8 Wire Mentality. Exploring the physical and subjective aspects of their artifacts, this study plans to recognize theirworth and potential value as cultural agents of cultural sustainability.</p></dc:description>
