Fifteen adult guitarists/ bass guitarists were recruited. One participant completed only the first session and was excluded from the final analysis; data from 14 participants were analysed.

Thermal recordings were acquired using a FLIR E95 camera during two data-collection sessions separated by a six-week musician-specific exercise programme. During each session, participants played scales for 10 minutes and their normal practice material for 10 minutes. The recorded regions of interest included the trapezius, shoulder, upper arm, forearm, wrist and hand, and digits.

Participant folders and files use pseudonymous identifiers.
