Historical carbon emissions from CDIAC and CDIAC-FF - previous data releases Michael Erb (22237627) Gregg Marland (22608380) Climate change processes Carbon emissions Global change CDIAC-FF CDIAC <p dir="ltr">This archive contains carbon emissions data from previous releases of the CDIAC and CDIAC-FF projects. Most of these datasets are available elsewhere online, but they are being made available here for ease of access and historical bookkeeping. For any new analysis, users are encouraged to use the latest release of the CDIAC-FF project. As of 2026, the most recent release is available at <a href="https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.33106658" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.33106658</a>.</p><p dir="ltr">These previous data releases were created by Gregg Marland, Matt Hefner, Dennis Gilfillan, Tom Boden, and Bob Andres. Each annual release in this archive contains two files — a "global" file and a "national" file — in which global and national carbon emissions are presented. Data, data structure, and some methodological details have changed over time, and users should refer to past publications from the authors mentioned above to better understand the data.</p><p dir="ltr">The oldest data release saved here has "1751_2008" in the filename, indicating that the files contain data until the year 2008. The newest release contains "1751_2021" in the filename. Datasets typically don't contain data for the previous 2-3 years at the time of publication, so these datasets are approximately from the years 2011 and 2024, respectively. Releases prior to the 2008 one are not currently on hand. Additionally, one data release (1751-2012) cannot be found, and may have either been misplaced or not created.</p><p dir="ltr">Much of these data were first published elsewhere under the Creative Commons license <a href="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">CC BY 4.0</a>.
