Every business record carrying a website field was requested once; the response (or the failure to get one) is what this dataset records. Provinces were assigned geographically, by intersecting each record's coordinates with official boundaries, because Overture's own address <em>region</em> field is null on roughly 92% of Turkish records.</p> <h4>Headline figures</h4> <ul> <li><strong>39.6% of the web addresses businesses publish are dead</strong> (271,566 of 685,343). Only 413,777 answered.</li> <li><strong>164,281 hostnames do not resolve at all</strong> (24.0%): the domain itself is gone, not merely the page. This is the single largest failure class, larger than every HTTP error combined.</li> <li>The rest: 58,025 returned a 4xx status, 32,729 timed out, 7,924 returned 5xx, 3,236 refused the connection, 2,693 redirected without resolving, 911 were malformed URLs.</li> <li>Sector spread is wide. Car dealers (33.5% reachable), real-estate agents (34.8%) and real-estate firms (39.6%) are the worst; ATMs (95.8%), banks and credit unions (95.4%) and mobile phone stores (82.4%) the best. A regulated balance sheet appears to predict a working website better than being an internet-facing consumer business does.</li> <li>Province spread is narrower than the sector spread but real: Tokat (54.8% reachable), Elâzığ (55.2%) and Van (55.4%) sit at the bottom, well under the 60.4% national average.</li> </ul> <h4>How to read the failure classes</h4> <p><code>dns_missing</code> is the strongest signal: the hostname has no DNS record, so the domain has lapsed. <code>http_4xx</code> mixes genuinely missing pages (404) with bot blocking (403 accounts for 34,778 of them), so it is a weaker indicator of abandonment.
