<dc:description>
This dataset contains metabolomic and microbial community data from a multi-year common garden drought experiment with quaking aspen (Populus tremuloides). Clonal genotypes representing diverse source populations were grown under repeated summer drought treatments (2021–2023) in a randomized block design. Leaf samples were collected at peak drought in 2022 and 2023 and analyzed for specialized metabolites, focusing on salicinoid phenolic glycosides (SPGs) and condensed tannins (CTs), using ultra-performance liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS) with purified analytical standards (e.g., salicin, tremulacin, procyanidin B2) and colorimetric acid-butanol assays. Foliar fungal communities were characterized from the same samples using ITS amplicon sequencing.
</dc:description>
