<dc:title>Multiscale Spatial Pigmentation Profiles in Dacrymycetes-like Fruiting Bodies: Raw Images, Shape-Adjusted Profiles, and Spectral Analyses</dc:title>

          <dc:description>
This dataset contains original scanner images and derived spatial-profile data from two morphologically distinct Dacryopinax/Dacrymyces-like fruiting bodies collected on 20 September 2026 in the author's grandfather's privately owned forest.

Each biological specimen was represented by two technical scanner views and analyzed along a normalized body axis divided into 100 spatial bins. The dataset includes spatial profiles of hue, saturation, brightness, CIELAB L*, and CIELAB b*, together with image-derived local morphology measurements.

The accompanying analyses examine technical-view reproducibility, spatial coherence, morphology–pigmentation relationships, shape-adjusted pigmentation residuals, polynomial detrending, high-pass spatial components, and multiscale Fourier decomposition. Phase-randomized and hierarchical surrogate analyses are also included to evaluate whether observed spatial correspondence can be explained by profile smoothness or technical-view dependence.

Across the two specimens, pigmentation showed strong spatial correspondence despite substantial differences in gross morphology. After removal of morphology-associated variation and smooth positional trends, residual spatial correspondence remained at selected spatial scales. Fourier decomposition further identified a strong global pigmentation component together with weaker, spatially aligned fine-scale components. These observations provide preliminary evidence for a candidate multiscale spatial organization of pigmentation in the examined fruiting bodies.

The dataset contains only two biological specimens. Technical views and spatial bins are not independent biological replicates. Statistical tests based on circular shifts or phase randomization evaluate spatial alignment within the observed profiles and should not be interpreted as population-level statistical evidence. Species-level identification is not claimed; the specimens are conservatively described as Dacryopinax/Dacrymyces-like (Dacrymycetes).

The dataset is intended to support reproducibility, reanalysis, development of alternative spatial-pattern metrics, and comparison with additional fungal specimens.
</dc:description>
