Data Management Plan for "Negotiating Morally Contested Emotions Online: A Discursive Analysis of Parental Regret on Reddit" Arabella Day (23016613) Applied linguistics and educational linguistics Sociolinguistics Discourse and pragmatics Discourse analysis Sociolinguistics Emotion Digitally Mediated Communication Morality <p dir="ltr">This project examines how parental regret, a morally contested emotion that challenges dominant social expectations of parenthood, is formulated and its legitimacy negotiated in interaction, and how this varies across different online communities on Reddit. To study this, the project draws on two connected sources of data: 1. Ethnographic insights, gathered through a period of non-participant observation of selected subreddits to understand site-level norms, rules, and community culture; and 2. Qualitative discourse data, consisting of publicly available Reddit posts and comments, purposively sampled and analysed using discourse analysis.
