<dc:description><p dir="ltr">Proteins are often composed of repeating sequences and structural units that govern folding, stability, molecular recognition, and catalysis. This review offers a comprehensive overview of such units, generally called motifs, and highlights recent advances in understanding their structural and functional roles. We discuss widely studied sequence motifs such as AXXXA, GXXXG, PxxP, WW-domain-binding motifs, DNA-binding motifs (helix-turn-helix, leucine zipper, zinc finger), and homorepeats, highlighting their roles in helix-helix packing, protein-protein interactions, and aggregation.</p></dc:description>
