<dc:description><p dir="ltr">This dataset contains primary and derived data from sediment core ZBW, a 100.65-m-long core recovered from the Beibu Gulf, northwestern South China Sea. The dataset includes clay-mineral compositions (illite, smectite, chlorite, and kaolinite) for 525 samples, together with grain-size parameters, major-element geochemistry, chemical weathering indices, sedimentary facies assignments, and associated stratigraphic information. Derived variables, including corrected chemical weathering indices, are also provided together with the parameters used for their calculation. These data can be used to investigate sediment provenance, hydrodynamic sorting, chemical weathering, shelf exposure, and sediment redistribution associated with Late Quaternary sea-level changes. A README sheet provides definitions of variables, units, calculation procedures, and information on data provenance to facilitate reuse and reproducibility.</p></dc:description>
