<dc:description>
This dataset and code repository supports the study “UK Valence–Arousal Norms for Facial Emojis and Development of a Compact Emoji-Based Affective Response Instrument.”

The study established UK valence–arousal norms for 74 facial emojis using ratings from 436 UK adults aged 18–84 years. The repository includes the anonymised questionnaire dataset, supporting research materials, and analysis code used to reproduce the reported numerical analyses. The study also examined demographic variation in emoji ratings, compared UK norms with previously published Japanese norms, and used a pre-specified multi-criteria selection procedure with bootstrap validation to derive a compact 14-emoji candidate affective response instrument.

These resources are provided to support transparency, reproducibility, reuse of the UK emoji norms, and future research on emoji-based affective self-report, ecological momentary assessment, mobile health, and related applications.
</dc:description>
