<dc:description><p>Playful learning in public spaces can expand children's access to enriching learning opportunities beyond formal educational settings, yet these opportunities remain unequally distributed across communities. The Playful Learning Landscapes initiative integrates community engagement with the science of learning to create playful learning opportunities in everyday public spaces. Although community engagement is central to this work, less is known about how parents experience sustained involvement as co-researchers. This study explored how Latine parents understood and experienced their participation as co-researchers in a Playful Learning Landscapes project. We conducted semi-structured interviews with 20 Latina mothers in Southern California who participated as parent co-researchers and conducted site intercept surveys before and after the implementation of playful learning installations in community spaces. Using a codebook thematic analysis approach, we found that parents engaged in relational, community-centered research practices grounded in care, trust, responsibility, and lived expertise. Parents drew on their knowledge of their communities to engage families, share information about the installations, and advocate for playful learning opportunities in everyday public spaces. Parents also described the installations as creating more welcoming, culturally meaningful environments, while recognizing ongoing structural barriers that continue to limit families’ access to safe public spaces. Participation as co-researchers contributed to parents’ confidence, sense of agency, and expanding roles as advocates for children, families, and community well-being. These findings suggest that community-based participatory approaches can position parents as community experts and advocates while supporting more equitable, justice-oriented access to playful learning opportunities.</p></dc:description>
