<dc:description>
This dataset develops a reproducibility framework for testing whether two adjacent Qur'anic surahs form a coherent pair rather than merely standing next to one another in the received order.

The Qur'an contains 113 adjacent surah relationships, but adjacency alone does not establish pair coherence. This research object therefore treats those 113 relationships as a comparison universe and asks what additional evidence is required before a pair claim can be accepted.

The framework evaluates proposed pairs through several evidentiary dimensions: ʿamūd alignment, functional complementarity, opening and closing relationships, placement logic, mutual illumination, specificity, counterevidence, negative controls, and proportional confidence grading.

Six possible forms of pair relation are distinguished: complementarity, contrastive balance, burden completion, scale transfer, mirror relation, and witness-response relation. These categories are not assigned automatically. A pair must demonstrate a specific structural relationship that explains both surahs more effectively when they are read together.

A central test is mutual illumination. A strong pair should clarify both surahs rather than allowing one surah to carry the entire interpretive argument. The dataset also introduces negative controls by comparing proposed pairs with neighboring or surface-similar alternatives. This helps distinguish genuine structural relationships from thematic resemblance, repeated vocabulary, or attractive symmetry.

Version 1.0.0 contains the complete 113-adjacency registry, controlled pair-relation vocabulary, evidence matrix, negative-control registry, grading framework, ten-step pair-coherence audit protocol, codebook, source register, summary statistics, and source-grounded pilot records.

The pilot layer includes Q93–Q94 and Q113–Q114 as strong structurally coded cases. Q2–Q3 is included as a transmitted pair whose full structural audit remains intentionally incomplete. This distinction preserves the difference between inherited recognition, completed analysis, and research still requiring further testing.

The dataset is designed for Qur'anic studies, Islamic studies, digital humanities, naẓm and munāsabah research, textual coherence, surah-sequence analysis, structural interpretation, and reproducible humanities research.

Its wider purpose is to make surah-pairing claims testable, comparable, rejectable, and revisable rather than treating every adjacency or resemblance as evidence of pair coherence.
</dc:description>
