<dc:description><p dir="ltr">Scarlet fever is a clinical presentation associated with Streptococcus pyogenes pharyngitis. Despite its scarcity at the start of the century, large outbreaks have been ongoing in mainland China and Hong Kong since 2011 and in the United Kingdom since 2014. However, scarlet fever remains relatively undescribed in other settings where it is not a notifiable disease. This study describes the genomic epidemiology of scarlet fever in New Zealand (NZ).</p></dc:description>
