<dc:description>This report discusses an important aspect of any effort to improve the nutritional status of refugees: international food assistance policies and the procedures for distribution of food rations to refugees and displaced persons. The paper recommends greater coordination within the UN system to cope with both the technical and political problems of relief distribution. It emphasizes the need for improvements in the international system for pledging and providing food aid, the procedures for determining eligibility for food assistance, the registration of refugees, and training for staff of host governments to cope with registration and distribution problems.</dc:description>
