<dc:description>This paper examines the effect of refugee gender on policy guidelines, vulnerability, and in the provision of humanitatian assistance. It uses four Africa case studies (Angola, Mozambique, Malawi and Zaire) to identify issues and priorities in providing appropriate relief assistance. The case studies specifically assessed: women's involvement in relief operations, the application of gender policy and guidelines, the gender sensitivity of relief operations, and major constraints to women's short and long term benefits from relief aid.</dc:description>
