<dc:description>This paper aims to provide a critical overview of the economic literature on conflicts and postwar reconstruction since the end of the Cold War. It also discusses relevant literature on the socioeconomic root causes of war and the impact of conflict on the economy. The report concludes that some of the most fundamental aspects of post-conflict rebuilding have been overlooked, mainly because they do not fit into the prevailing paradigm.</dc:description>
