<dc:description>This paper is part of a 'Working Paper Series' disseminating findings of work in progress to encourage discussion and exchange of ideas on conflict and development issues. This working paper presents a study commissioned by the Education Team of the World Bank's Human Development Network and the Conflict Prevention and Reconstruction Unit of the Social Development Department. The report examines the impact of conflicts on the respective education systems of El Salvador, Guatemala and Nicaragua; the countries' education reforms in the post-conflict period; the impact to date of these reforms, and proposed lessons for any country embarking on a comprehensive education reform process, especially in post-conflict settings.</dc:description>
