<dc:description>This paper is part of a 'Working Paper Series' disseminating findings of work in progress to encourage discussion and exchange of ideas on conflict and development issues. This research project adds to our knowledge on the causes of intrastate conflict in two ways. First, this project further tests the general theoretical assertions concerning the role of social conditions in predicting intrastate conflict. Second, this research synthesizes feminist literature and theoretical expectations with the more traditional, presumably gender neutral but actually male-centric understanding of intrastate conflict.</dc:description>
