<dc:description>Research theories for forced migration indicate sound host-guest relations are paramount for durable post conflict reintegration. After two decades of war, displaced populations and refugees from Sri Lanka's north and east face the daunting challenge of returning to their original lands and rebuilding their lives. With the new arrivees tensions among the Tamil, Muslim and Sinhalese communities had threatened to destabilize the region. The paper (presented at IASFM Conference 2005) presents three unique field intervention case studies from a Care/UNHCR coexistence project for IDPs among the three communities: cross-cultural youth groups between Muslim returnees and Tamils; collective income generation among Tamil returnees and Muslims; and livelihood empowerment with sensitivity training amongst Sinhalese returnees.</dc:description>
