<dc:description>This paper highlights that migration has acquired increasing importance globally in recent years. However, there has remained a paucity of adequate data on the numbers and characteristics of migrants. Indeed, it has been widely acknowledged that improving the availability and the quality of data is essential in order to develop well-informed and well-designed migration policies. This applies in both the areas of adult and child migration. In this paper the creators follow the typology set by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in defining children as being all individuals between 0 and 17 years of age.</dc:description>
