<dc:description><p dir="ltr">This study examines learners’ perceptions and practices of mobile technology for EFL learning in Pakistani higher education. Drawing on an ecological perspective, it investigates how mobile-assisted learning is experienced across formal and informal contexts in a resource-constrained setting. Using a mixed-methods design, data were collected through a structured survey (n = 229) and focus group discussions across three universities. The findings show that learners experience mobile technologies as embedded and routine features of their learning environments, supporting flexible access to resources, peer interaction, and situated engagement across everyday contexts. Rather than being organised primarily through pedagogical intervention or deliberate optimisation, learners’ mobile-assisted practices are enacted in response to contextual conditions and perceived affordances. The study shifts attention away from dominant strands of MALL research that foreground structured and intervention-based learning by showing that mobile-assisted engagement is often sustained through routine and informal participation in everyday life. In doing so, it offers a learner-centred and contextually grounded contribution to MALL and m-learning research in higher education, particularly in underrepresented and resource-constrained contexts.</p></dc:description>
